A top-tier lineup of actors has come together in what is already generating major buzz as a Netflix film expected to dominate OTT charts. These actors have already proven their ticket-selling power with the film 'Extreme Jobs.'
In the new film, two very different husbands join forces to rescue their family after they are kidnapped by a criminal organization. The film 'Husbands in Action' blends spectacular action with lively comedy, quickly drawing public attention as a fresh box office contender. Anticipation is already at its peak, not least because it is the latest work from director Park Gyu Tae, who previously delivered nationwide laughs with the comedy film '6/45.'
At the production presentation held on the 15th, director Park Gyu Tae and lead actors Jin Seon Kyu, Gong Myung, Kim Ji Suk, Yoon Kyung Ho, Kang Han Na, Lee Da Hee, and Jeon So Min attended, showcasing their chemistry and confidence in the project with playful banter and strong teamwork.

'Husbands in Action' is a comedy-action film about a former husband and a current husband who unexpectedly team up to rescue a wife kidnapped by a criminal organization. The story centers on the unlikely cooperation between two men who seem completely incompatible, delivering constant situational comedy and large-scale action sequences.
During the event, director Park explained the origin of the film’s title. He described it as a story where a former husband and current husband work together to save their family, adding that the title was chosen for being easy to remember and say. “If you combine former husband and current husband, you get two husbands,” he said, adding that 'Husbands in Action' felt like the perfect fit. He also joked that many successful films have short three-syllable Korean titles, citing 'Parasite,' 'Train to Busan,' 'Haeundae,' and 'Veteran,' which drew laughter from the room.
He also highlighted what differentiates the new film from his previous works. “My past films often involved ironic situations and clashes between groups, such as a lottery ticket going to the North in '6/45,' or encounters between monks and gangsters,” he said. “In 'Husbands in Action,' the two leads are a former husband and current husband with a 12-year age gap. It expands into a family action comedy with exhilarating action and cooperative rescue elements,” he added.

The actors also shared why they joined the project. Jeon So Min said she was drawn to the diverse characters and the ironic setup of former and current husbands. “After reading the script once, I impulsively went to meet the director,” she said. Lee Da Hee noted she enjoyed the director’s previous work, '6/45,' and found the character backstories interesting. Kang Han Na also said she laughed while reading the script and wanted to be part of the ensemble cast.
Yoon Kyung Ho praised the director, calling him a master of contemporary comedy. He said he was particularly drawn to the witty dialogue that blends old and new sensibilities, and noted that working with a largely unfamiliar ensemble cast added to the appeal of the project.
Gong Myung revealed his personal connection with the director, saying he had wanted to work with him since '6/45' but missed the opportunity. He also expressed excitement about reuniting with Jin Seon Kyu after Extreme Job, calling it a meaningful collaboration. Jin Seon Kyu also shared deep respect for the director, saying he was eager to work with him after reading the script and imagining the chemistry with the cast.

The cast then introduced their characters in detail. Jin Seon Kyu plays the ace of a narcotics unit, a tough-looking but emotionally warm detective who deeply loves his wife and daughter.
Gong Myung plays Min Seok, Shin Ae’s current husband and a veterinarian. He enjoys adventurous hobbies and is deeply devoted to his family. His character tends to act passionately, sometimes to excess. He accidentally reunites with Shin Ae’s former husband, Choon Sik (played by Jin Seon Kyu), at their daughter’s speech contest, where he learns that his wife and daughter have been kidnapped.
When asked about character similarity, Gong Myung estimated a 90 percent resemblance, saying he infused much of his own personality into the role and that his chemistry with the cast made the character feel even closer to himself. He also expressed strong affection for working with Jin Seon Kyu, saying every moment on set felt meaningful and enjoyable.

The film’s biggest highlight is its large-scale action. Director Park emphasized the “land, sea, and air” concept, featuring car chases on land, yachts at sea, and paragliding in the sky. He described the scale as comparable to a James Bond-style production and said great effort was put into making the action both thrilling and fun. He also noted that capturing the actors’ emotions and expressions was a key directorial focus.
Kang Han Na added that each action sequence was tailored to the characters, making the viewing experience even more engaging.
Director Park also reflected on the casting process, saying it felt like a fortunate convergence of timing and talent. “It felt like fate brought the right people together,” he said, noting that schedules aligned miraculously. He added that assembling all seven actors was not easy and expressed gratitude that everything came together.
He also shared a lighthearted family anecdote, saying his child jokingly asked if he was filming Running Man after hearing the cast lineup, highlighting the actors’ familiar public images.
Closing the production event, Park expressed his hopes for the film’s global release on Netflix. “This is a great opportunity to meet audiences worldwide,” he said. “Whether you are a husband, will become one, or simply anyone in the world, this is a film everyone can enjoy with their family.”
With veteran comedic direction, strong ensemble performances, and spectacular land, sea, and air action, 'Husbands in Action' is set for global release on Netflix on the 19th.
