Jay B is set to unveil a new mini album that highlights his own artistic identity beyond his work as the leader of GOT7.
On June 10, Jay B held a press listening session for his third mini album, 'TR.EE,' at Seongsuyul Music in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, where he shared insights into the album's concept, creative process, and personal growth.

Reflecting on his comeback, Jay B said, “It's an honor to greet listeners again with a mini album after a long time. The album is titled 'TR.EE.' While looking through various quotes, I came across the idea that a tree grows stronger through being shaken and that those struggles allow it to develop deeper roots. That message really resonated with me. I'm excited, but I'm also nervous.”
He added that he paid close attention to the album's structure, saying, “I put a lot of thought into the track arrangement. I wanted the sound textures and narrative flow to feel like reading a novel, so I worked hard to create that experience.”

Jay B explained that one of the main goals of the project was to establish a clear distinction between his solo music and GOT7's sound.
“I spent a lot of time thinking about how to express something different from GOT7's music,” he said. “I think I've worked hard to find the sounds that I personally love. I hope listeners feel that these are songs they want to keep in their playlists and return to often.”
The singer also discussed releasing his first album under a new agency. Unlike previous projects, he said he has let go of the pressure to constantly prove himself.
“This company gives me tremendous support, which has allowed me to think more deeply about myself and what I want to express,” he shared. “At the same time, I'm not just focused on my own desires. I'm also thinking about what listeners want, and I believe I'm moving in a positive direction.”

Jay B revealed that the quote that inspired the album came during a particularly difficult period in his life.
“At the time, I felt anxious and overwhelmed. That day was especially hard,” he recalled. “Reading that quote comforted me. It made me realize that I wasn't simply struggling, I was growing. That's what led me to create this album.”
When asked how he has changed through the process, Jay B said he has become more thoughtful and deliberate in both his work and personal life.
“I think I've naturally grown through this experience. I've spent more time reflecting on myself,” he said. “One thing that's changed is that I double-check everything now. In the past, I always focused on achieving the best result possible. These days, I still aim for the best, but I focus more on doing my best in the situation I'm given.”
Discussing the differences between his solo work and GOT7's music, Jay B noted his strong preference for R&B and groove-driven sounds.
“I personally love R&B music. My solo work tends to lean more toward pop-oriented sounds and current trends,” he explained. “At my core, though, I love vintage sounds and old-school soul-funk. I consider those genres to be my roots.”
As for the response he hopes to receive from listeners, Jay B expressed a desire for the album to reveal new layers over time.
“I hope people enjoy it more the more they listen,” he said. “I want it to be the kind of album that's saved in a playlist and revisited, like picking up a favorite book again. Every time they listen, I hope they discover something new. Sometimes listeners notice things that even the artist didn't intend, and I'd love for this album to be that kind of experience.”
Jay B's third mini album, 'TR.EE,' was released through major online music platforms at 6 p.m. KST on June 10.
He will also kick off his solo concert tour with 'tape:roots Seoul' on June 20 and 21 at YES24 LIVE HALL in Seoul before continuing the tour internationally with a stop in Bangkok this July.
