Japanese actor Kasamatsu Show has signed an exclusive management contract with Korean agency Star Platinum, officially kicking off his career in the Korean entertainment industry. The announcement came on June 26.
Kasamatsu Show has been building his career in Japanese film and drama for over a decade since his 2013 debut. He gained wider recognition through HBO Max's 'Tokyo Vice' and Disney+'s 'Gannibal', and is set to appear in director Park Chan Wook's upcoming Hollywood project 'The Sympathizer' Season 2. Korean audiences first took notice of him through his role in the KBS drama 'Taxi Driver 3'. His upcoming Korean projects include Star Platinum's films 'Razor' and 'Ripple'. 'Razor', a psychological horror thriller co-starring Noh Jung Eui, wrapped filming in March and is expected to release later this year.
In a handwritten letter, Kasamatsu Show said, "I grew up watching Korean works for a long time, and the fact that I can now work in Korea makes me so happy. Whether in Korea, Japan, or the U.S., I want to enjoy my activities as I have until now." He added, "I want to always do my best and challenge myself, regardless of the size of the role. To the CEOs and directors I haven't met yet, please call me anytime. I'll happily run to you."
Star Platinum CEO Han Hee Sung said, "Kasamatsu Show is an actor with not only acting skills and diligence but also sincere passion for Korean works. We will do our best together to help him meet more audiences in Korea and on the world stage."
