Lee Ji Hye warns fans about AI-generated fake ads using her likeness

BY Minsoo-Kim · June 18, 2026

Broadcaster Lee Ji Hye has warned fans about fraudulent advertisements that falsely use her image, urging the public to remain cautious.

On June 17 KST, Lee shared several screenshots on social media and clarified that the advertisements circulating online were not legitimate endorsements.

“I never filmed these commercials,” she wrote. “I’ve been receiving a lot of direct messages about them recently.”

The screenshots showed advertisements that appeared to feature Lee personally promoting various products, including sweet potatoes and underwear. However, Lee explained that the content appeared to be AI-generated and had been created without her knowledge or consent.

She strongly advised followers not to engage with the advertisements.

“Please do not click the links or purchase anything through them,” Lee warned. “Be careful.”

The broadcaster also noted that the advertisements seemed to direct users to websites based in China.

“They’re written in Korean, but if you look closely, something feels off,” she explained. “I honestly don’t know who made these, but they’re really awful.”

Lee Ji Hye’s warning comes amid a growing number of cases involving the unauthorized use of celebrities’ photos and videos in AI-generated advertisements and online scams.

Fans responded with concern, with many commenting that the ads looked convincing enough to be mistaken for real endorsements. Others expressed relief that Lee personally addressed the issue and alerted followers before more people could potentially be affected.
