A man in his 40s, identified as A, who broke into the home of actress Kim Gyu Ri and committed a robbery, is now also reported to have previously been involved in a separate attempted intrusion at the residence of broadcaster Seo Don Joo, adding further shock to the case.
According to MBN on June 5, A was caught earlier this year after attempting to break into Seo Don Joo’s home. Police reportedly sought an arrest warrant and applied for a Level 4 provisional measure, which allows for detention in a holding facility, on charges including unlawful entry and stalking. However, the court is said to have rejected the arrest warrant request.
Following this, A was indicted and brought to trial without detention. While out on bail, he allegedly broke into Kim Gyu Ri’s home in Jongno District, Seoul, at around 9 p.m. on the 20th of last month.
Although the break-in attempt did not result in a completed robbery, it was reported that Kim Gyu Ri and another woman living in the household were assaulted during a confrontation with the suspect. A was later sent to prosecutors in a detained state on May 29.
Seo Don Joo is known as the daughter of broadcaster Seo Jeong Hee and the late comedian Seo Se Won.
