Nam Joo Hyuk and Roh Yoon Seo are set to introduce viewers to a unique fantasy world in Netflix's upcoming series 'The East Palace.'
Netflix confirmed on June 12 that 'The East Palace' will premiere on July 17 and unveiled its first official poster. The image shows Nam Joo Hyuk standing in a pitch-black pond with his body bound by ropes. Carrying a bundle of peach tree branches on his back, he is approached by a sinister red aura, hinting at the supernatural dangers that await.
The poster's tagline, “Beyond the boundaries of reality, into the world of spirits,” teases the series' mysterious and otherworldly narrative.
'The East Palace' follows Gu Cheon (played by Nam Joo Hyuk), a man with the ability to travel between the human world and the realm of spirits, and Saeng Gang (portrayed by Roh Yoon Seo), a palace maid who harbors a secret. After being summoned by the king, the two set out to uncover the curse haunting the East Palace.
Gu Cheon is a skilled spirit hunter who moves freely between the worlds of the living and the dead, slaying ghosts along the way. Saeng Gang possesses the rare ability to hear the voices of spirits. Together, they investigate the dark secrets behind the curse consuming the royal palace.
Meanwhile, Cho Seung Woo takes on the role of the king who summons Gu Cheon and Saeng Gang to the palace, adding further depth to the story.
Netflix's The East Palace premieres worldwide on July 17.
