Netflix’s upcoming original series 'The East Palace' is already drawing strong attention ahead of its release.
Set to premiere on July 17, 'The East Palace' unveiled new character posters featuring lead stars Nam Joo Hyuk, Roh Yoon Seo, and Cho Seung Woo, heightening anticipation among viewers.
The newly released posters spotlight each character’s distinct identity and atmosphere. Nam Joo Hyuk appears as Gu Cheon, a man described as “one who crosses between the world of spirits,” exuding an intense presence while holding a mysterious sword engraved with red markings. Roh Yoon Seo takes on the role of Saeng Gang, “one who hears the voices of the spirit world,” creating an eerie mood with blood on her forehead. Cho Seung Woo transforms into the King, embodying the commanding presence of a ruler who “hunts the ghosts lurking in the abyss.”

The actors also shared how deeply they approached their roles. Nam Joo Hyuk said he acted by “constantly imagining an invisible world,” explaining that it was important for him to create a sense of interaction with unseen beings in front of the camera. Roh Yoon Seo described the series as “a project where strange beings, thrilling action, and the characters’ stories all come together,” adding that she focused closely on the subtle emotions and relationships between the characters during her preparation.
Cho Seung Woo said the appeal of playing the King lay in how “the characters’ emotions swirl with the events, erupt, and eventually unravel,” noting that he concentrated on portraying the many layers of the character’s complex inner world.

As one of Netflix’s highly anticipated global projects, 'The East Palace' has already generated interest for its expansive world-building and story. The character posters released on June 25 have only added to the growing excitement.
