Netflix’s hit Korean drama 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' is reportedly returning with not one, but two new seasons.
According to an exclusive report by MyDaily on June 22, 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,' one of Netflix’s biggest Korean hits of 2025, is preparing for Seasons 2 and 3. The production team is said to be developing both installments simultaneously. Season 2 will reportedly consist of eight episodes, with scripts for the first four episodes already completed.
'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' follows genius trauma surgeon Baek Kang Hyuk, a former battlefield doctor, who is assigned to revive an underperforming trauma center. The series combines high-stakes medical emergencies with fast-paced storytelling and larger-than-life heroics. The upcoming season is expected to focus on Baek Kang Hyuk as he travels to trauma centers in regional areas, tackling new challenges and cases.
The original cast, including Ju Ji Hoon, Choo Young Woo, Ha Young, and Yoon Kyung Ho, is expected to return. New characters will reportedly be introduced throughout the season on an episode-by-episode basis.

Netflix has not officially confirmed the project. A company representative stated, “We are positively discussing the production of a follow-up to The Trauma Code, but nothing has been finalized.”
Based on the webtoon of the same name, 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' received widespread praise for its brisk pacing, compelling medical cases, and strong performances from its cast.
Immediately after its release in January 2025, the drama climbed to No. 1 on Netflix Korea’s “Top 10 Series Today” chart. It remained the country’s most-watched series for 22 consecutive days and topped Netflix’s global Non-English TV ranking during the fifth week of January.

Just three weeks after its premiere, the drama became the seventh most successful Netflix Korea original series in the platform’s history. Even more than two months after its release, it never dropped out of Netflix Korea’s Top 10 rankings, demonstrating remarkable staying power.
While the show was initially not expected to perform strongly overseas due to its medical subject matter, it quickly gained international traction. Within five to six days of release, it surpassed 600 points on FlixPatrol rankings and climbed as high as No. 2 globally.
The series also enjoyed major success during awards season. Ju Ji Hoon won Best Actor honors at both the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards and the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards. The drama itself took home Best Drama trophies at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards and the 20th Seoul Drama Awards.
Unlike traditional medical dramas, 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' incorporated elements commonly found in superhero stories. Its biggest draw was the charismatic and nearly unstoppable protagonist Baek Kang Hyuk, whose confidence and competence delivered a satisfying sense of catharsis for viewers.

The series also avoided common genre conventions such as romance and melodrama. While many medical dramas focus heavily on emotional patient stories, The Trauma Code prioritized fast-moving narratives and the actions of its central characters.
Its streamlined storytelling eliminated unnecessary subplots, allowing audiences to stay immersed in the emergencies unfolding inside the trauma center. Although the series consisted of only eight episodes, it featured a wide variety of surgeries and medical cases. Viewers also praised the show's use of accessible subtitles that simplified complex medical terminology.
Following the critical and commercial success of Season 1, fans have been eagerly calling for a continuation. With Seasons 2 and 3 reportedly in development, anticipation is building over whether 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' can once again captivate audiences with its signature adrenaline-fueled storytelling.
