Park Mi Sun returns to variety shows after 18 months, opens up about cancer recovery

Comedian and television personality Park Mi Sun has shared her thoughts on returning to variety television after an 18-month hiatus.

On June 2, the cast of MBN’s new reality program “Somebody Else's Precious Family” gathered for an online production presentation, where Park Mi Sun spoke candidly about her long-awaited comeback.

After taking time away from regular broadcasting while continuing treatment and recovery from breast cancer, Park signaled her return through an appearance on You Quiz on the Block last December and is now resuming full-scale activities.

Her return has drawn additional attention because she will appear alongside her husband, comedian Lee Bong Won. The longtime couple is expected to share candid moments from their daily lives that have rarely been shown publicly.

Reflecting on her comeback, Park said, “It’s been a long time since I filmed a television program, so I was nervous and worried. But I felt comfortable because I was working with people who feel like family. I don’t know how the broadcast will turn out, but we did our best. If it’s not entertaining, the producers will edit it well.”

Lee Bong Won added, “It’s been about 10 years since we appeared together in a reality variety show. Even though it felt a little awkward at first, our chemistry quickly came back.”

Park also revealed that deciding to return was not easy. “I thought a lot about whether I was ready to resume activities and whether I should wait longer. I lacked confidence, and my stamina isn’t what it used to be. But knowing my husband would be with me made me feel like I could rely on him, and that played a big role in my decision.”

Lee expressed his concern for his wife’s health, saying, “I was worried about whether her condition had improved enough. She says her stamina has recovered to around 60 to 70 percent, and that remains my biggest concern.”

Park has courageously shared her ongoing battle with breast cancer, stressing the importance of early medical checkups. Her story has left a deep impression on viewers.
