Park So Dam candidly shared her emotional struggles during her battle with thyroid cancer.
Park So Dam appeared on the June 7 broadcast of the TV CHOSUN program 'Huh Young Man's Food Travel.'
During the episode, she reflected on the difficult period after being diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and undergoing treatment for nearly three years. She said, “I was very scared at first. Back then, I didn’t even want to meet anyone.”
She continued, “Before the surgery, I took my voice for granted. After the operation, I couldn’t speak for six months, and it made me think a lot. As an actress, I need to be able to create different sounds, so I worried whether I would be able to continue acting.”

Park So Dam added, “Only after going through that difficult and withdrawn period was I truly able to look at myself. After the surgery, I went on a solo trip to Europe for 34 days.”
She went on to share, “I rented a car and drove by myself, and I even saw the aurora in Iceland. At one point, I had a tire problem and went to an auto repair shop, and they fixed it for free while wishing me good luck.”
She concluded, “After experiencing those things, I started wondering whether I would have taken on those challenges if I had never gotten sick.”
