Rookie boy group NAZE just took their first proper bow in Japan — and they did it on the back of a chart-topping debut.
The seven-member group — Kaisei, Younki, Ato, Turn, Yuya, Kim Kun, and Dohyeok — held their debut showcase, "THIS IS NAZE," on June 19 at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo. They split the night into two parts: the first opened up to media and fans together, the second was a fan-focused stage.
They walked in with momentum. Their debut mini album "NAZE," released last month in both Korea and Japan, had already topped Japan's Oricon Daily Single Ranking — so the Tokyo crowd was meeting a group that was charting before it even hit the stage.
The setlist ran through all four tracks off the album, including the title song "People Talk." NAZE also performed "Wanderlust," an insert track from the Japanese TBS drama "DREAM STAGE" — a project the whole group appeared in, playing, fittingly, K-pop trainees. That full-circle moment got a nod at the venue, with congratulatory video messages from their drama co-stars Nakamura Tomoya, Ikeda Elaiza, and Iwase Yoji: the members went from playing aspiring idols on screen to actually debuting as one.
NAZE made their official Korean debut on May 4 with "People Talk," and they've stayed busy since — running school-visit challenges and a self-produced YouTube variety series, "Hello." With the showcase wrapped, the group says it will shift into local Japanese promotions next, including terrestrial broadcasts, radio, and interviews.
