The Seoul Music Awards marked its 35th edition this year. Hosted by Sports Seoul and organized by the Seoul Music Awards organizing committee, the ceremony was held on June 20 at 6 p.m. KST at Inspire Arena in Jung District, Incheon, with the grand prize going to ATEEZ. The group succeeds I-DLE, last year's winner, at the top of this year's awards.
The night's biggest storyline was the multi-award race. Boynextdoor and Lee Chan Won each swept four trophies — Boynextdoor took Best Album, World Best Artist, R&B/Hip-Hop, and Bonsang, while Lee Chan Won claimed the Popularity Award, Trot Award, SMA Best Artist Award, and Bonsang. Zerobaseone and LE SSERAFIM each picked up three awards, keeping trophies flowing throughout the show.
A highlight of the night was the newly created 'SMA Best Artist' category, introduced for the 35th anniversary and decided entirely by fan voting through the final moments of the ceremony. Lee Chan Won took home the honor. Two other new categories also debuted: the Golden Revival Award, won by EXO, and the New Icon Award, won by D.O.
A total of 20 acts performed, with top actors serving as presenters and Super Junior's Leeteuk, Zerobaseone's Park Gun Wook, and Kiiikiii's Lee Sol hosting the show.
Meanwhile, the Hallyu Special Award went to BTS, the K-POP World Choice (Group) award went to Super Junior, and the K-POP World Choice (Solo) award went to TXT's Yeonjun — reflecting a year of intense global fan voting.
