Virtual group B THE HOOD draws attention with expansive sci-fi universe ahead of debut

BY K-Soul · June 19, 2026

Rookie virtual group B THE HOOD is already generating significant buzz ahead of its official debut. Interest in the group has been growing across social media thanks to its expansive, sci-fi-inspired storyline that resembles the scale of a blockbuster science fiction film.

Created by entertainment-tech company LEVVELS, B THE HOOD has been actively building its fanbase through a series of teaser videos hinting at the group's universe, as well as short-form animated content showcasing the members' humorous attempts to adapt to life on Earth. Despite not having officially debuted yet, the group's YouTube channel has already surpassed 40,000 subscribers, highlighting the growing anticipation surrounding the project.

The recently released animated episode, "The Great Leap (BTHD EP1)," features the members transformed into adorable SD (super-deformed) characters operating in "low-power mode." In the video, the extraterrestrial members comically struggle with everyday Earth customs, including hesitating at a crosswalk until the traffic light changes, creating a charming and humorous viewing experience.

Beneath the cute visuals, however, lies a much darker and more expansive narrative. The members of B THE HOOD originally come from NOVUS, a distant planet where emotions have been eliminated, and efficiency is valued above all else. Their journey to Earth begins when member JACE detects a signal from the Golden Record aboard the Voyager spacecraft, which was launched from Earth into space in 1973. Inspired by the transmission, the group escapes NOVUS and travels to Earth.

According to the group's storyline, the members' current adorable appearance is a temporary "low-power mode" adopted to help them adapt to the unfamiliar and emotionally chaotic environment of Earth. Teaser videos released since May 29 have further expanded the narrative, revealing the ominous pursuit of the members by "stray cats," a surveillance system controlled by NOVUS ruler K, while also showcasing the group's stylish live-action (LD) street-fashion visuals. The contrast has fueled curiosity about their true identities and the larger story behind the project.

A representative from LEVVELS described B THE HOOD as "the culmination of human creativity," combining advanced technology with 1980s and 1990s subculture influences and intricate storytelling.

"The group's vast, cosmic-scale universe is hidden beneath its cute adaptation stories," the representative said. "As each layer of the narrative is revealed, fans will be able to enjoy a unique and immersive experience."

As five extraterrestrials who chose Earth as their new home, B THE HOOD is drawing attention for how it may introduce a new paradigm to the K-pop industry through its distinctive music, performances, and richly developed universe.
