It's official; SBS is gearing up for the return of its hit action-comedy crime drama 'Flex x Cop 2,' releasing its first teaser ahead of the series premiere. The highly anticipated second season will debut on August 7, taking over the Friday-Saturday time slot previously occupied by 'Agent Kim Reactivated.' After Season 1 became a ratings success, viewers are eager to see how the story continues with a revamped cast and even bigger cases.
The first teaser, released on July 2, opens with billionaire detective Jin I Soo (played by Ahn Bo Hyun) confidently saying, "Shall we get started?"—a line that immediately recalls the effortless confidence that defined his character throughout the first season.
The teaser then showcases Jin I Soo embarking on an overseas arrest operation aboard a private jet alongside his now close-knit Violent Crimes Unit teammates, Park Jun Young (played by Kang Sang Jun) and Choi Kyung Jin (portrayed by Kim Shin Bi). The sequence makes it clear that his signature investigation style—using his immense wealth and resources to catch criminals—has become even more extravagant.

From casually toasting guests while dressed in a tuxedo at a lavish party to commandeering a helicopter with the remark, "I'm going to borrow that helicopter. We need to catch serial killers," the teaser highlights the series' trademark mix of action and luxury. High-speed chases through the city in imported sports cars further reinforce the show's over-the-top approach to crime fighting.
The biggest surprise comes with the introduction of a new leader for Violent Crimes Unit 1.
Expecting to welcome a new superior with a red carpet and a bouquet of flowers, Jin I Soo instead comes face-to-face with Joo Hye Ra (played by Jung Eun Chae), his former police academy instructor who once terrified him during training.

Joo Hye Ra immediately demonstrates her authority by effortlessly throwing Jin I Soo with a judo move and confidently wielding her police baton. When Jin I Soo mutters, "This is a nightmare," she coldly replies, "No, it's reality," teasing a dynamic that promises both tension and comedy throughout the season.
The scale of Season 2 appears significantly larger than that of its predecessor.
The teaser features bomb attacks and fire threats targeting department stores, moving vehicles, and luxury parties. An unidentified antagonist ominously declares, "Detective Jin, let the game begin," while Joo Hye Ra warns him, "Someone is targeting you with the intention of killing you."
Actor Yoo Seung Ho also makes his first appearance as Yoo Sung Won, the youngest son of a powerful media conglomerate family and a sculptor. His mysterious role hints at another major storyline that will unfold throughout the season.

Fans quickly shared their excitement online, posting comments such as, "I can't wait to see Ahn Bo Hyun and Jung Eun Chae together," "SBS is on a roll," "The cast is incredible," "Looks like we'll finally get another fun drama," and "Yoo Seung Ho? That's amazing."
Ahn Bo Hyun reprises his role as Jin I Soo, the wealthy detective who solves crimes using his fortune, influential connections, and sharp intelligence. Having completed formal police academy training, his character returns as a fully qualified detective with greater experience and confidence.

Ahn has built an impressive résumé through dramas including 'Yumi's Cells,' 'My Name,' 'See You in My 19th Life,' and 'Spring Fever,' and viewers are eager to see another blend of stylish action and comedy from the actor.
Joining him is Jung Eun Chae as Joo Hye Ra, a respected detective who volunteers to lead Violent Crimes Unit 1, becoming Jin I Soo's direct superior. Their shared history as a strict instructor and a troublesome cadet at the police academy sets up one of the season's central relationships.
Since debuting in the 2010 film 'Haunters,' Jung Eun Chae has earned acclaim through projects including 'The Fatal Encounter,' 'The King,' 'The King: Eternal Monarch,' 'Pachinko,' 'Anna,' 'Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born,' and 'Honour.' Known for portraying strong, commanding characters, she is considered a natural fit for the role.
Returning cast members include Kang Sang Jun as dependable detective Park Jun Young, Kim Shin Bi as the energetic youngest team member Choi Kyung Jin, Jung Ga Hee as eccentric forensic pathologist Yoon Ji Won, and Kim Myung Soo as Hansoo Group chairman Choi Jung Hoon, Jin I Soo's trusted supporter.

Yoo Seung Ho joins the drama in a special appearance as Yoo Sung Won, a fellow third-generation chaebol heir who develops a brother-like friendship with Jin I Soo.
His casting reportedly came through his previous collaboration with director Kim Jae Hong on the 2018 drama 'My Strange Hero.' The role also marks Yoo's return to television after approximately three years.
When 'Flex x Cop' first aired in 2024, it gained popularity for its unique premise of a carefree third-generation chaebol unexpectedly becoming a detective. Its signature investigative philosophy—roughly summed up as "fight money with money and power with power"—and its flashy action sequences helped the drama achieve a peak nationwide rating of 11%.
However, Park Ji Hyun, who played detective Lee Kang Hyun in Season 1, will not return due to scheduling conflicts, according to her agency. She is currently starring in tvN's office romance drama 'See You at Work Tomorrow!' as veteran employee Cha Ji Yoon.
Her departure paves the way for Jung Eun Chae's Joo Hye Ra to become Jin I Soo's new partner, giving the second season a fresh dynamic.

The series also inherits the coveted time slot from SBS hit drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated,' which has become one of the network's biggest successes of 2026. By its second episode, the series had already recorded nationwide ratings of 15.7%, a 15.9% rating in the Seoul metropolitan area, and a peak of 18.1%, making it SBS's highest-rated drama of the year. It also became the first drama across all Korean networks since The Penthouse 3 in 2021 to surpass the 15% mark by its second episode.
With a new leading partnership, the addition of Yoo Seung Ho, and larger-scale action than ever before, 'Flex x Cop 2' will premiere on August 7 at 9:50 PM KST, aiming to continue SBS's winning streak.
