(G)I-DLE's Soyeon has shared insights into her musical growth and the story behind her other stage name, Icebluerabbit.
During a media showcase for the group’s 9th mini-album, 'WE MADE', held in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on July 6, Soyeon was asked about her experiences working under the new moniker. "Honestly, when I released 'Mono' at the beginning of this year, I started it because I wanted to take on a completely new challenge, moving away from the style I usually pursue, which is 'hot, loves yellow, and loves cats'," she began.
Soyeon then elaborated on the evolution of her musical style. "When I was working on 'Mono,' I was originally the type who preferred provocative music," she explained. "But while working as Icebluerabbit, I started making music that is more comfortable and easy to listen to, something you can enjoy without much thought. That's the biggest difference."
She confessed that this new identity has since become an integral part of her artistry. "As I kept trying new things, the identity of Icebluerabbit itself eventually melted into me," Soyeon shared. "Now, I think even that (comfortable) music is a complete part of who I am," she added, highlighting her expanded musical spectrum and maturity.
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE released 'WE MADE' on July 6 at 6 PM KST. The album features five songs, led by the title track "Gimme That Love," a summer love song based on Latin pop with a distinctive whistle sound that sensuously captures the feeling of mutual attraction.
