SEVENTEEN's new unit, V8, featuring members The 8 and Vernon, has powerfully debuted by achieving half-million seller status with their first mini album, 'V8'.
According to the Hanteo Chart on July 2, the album recorded a cumulative sales total of 559,904 copies by July 1, securing the top spot on the daily album chart.
The album is also performing well globally. 'V8' entered the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart at number 5 on its release day and climbed to number 4 the following day. In China, it dominated QQ Music's 'Digital Bestselling Album' daily chart for three consecutive days and earned a Platinum certification for surpassing 1 million yuan (about 230 million won) in sales.
The title track, "singasong," made a strong debut on domestic charts, entering Melon's 'Top 100' at number 23. The song's popularity has been boosted by a viral "Shuffle Challenge," which has seen participation from fellow idols like Jihoon of TWS, Iroha of ILLIT, and Huh Yunjin and Kazuha of LE SSERAFIM.
The album, which features collaborations with producers like Pharrell Williams and Dylan Brady, explores the theme of 'Consumed Youth.' In a statement, Vernon explained the concept, "We wanted to tell an authentic story... The team name V8 brought up the image of moving forward using youth as fuel, which led to the theme of 'consumed youth.'"
V8 is set to perform "singasong" and the B-side track "rat race" on Mnet's 'M Countdown' on July 2. The duo will also hold their '2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] LIVE' concerts in Goyang on July 11-12 and in Hong Kong from July 17-19.
