Red Velvet's Seulgi opened up about the hardship she faced during her long trainee days.

On the December 12 airing of JTBC's 'Give Me a Meal,' Seulgi and Lee Kyung Kyu scored a meal at a family home in Mapo-gu. During their time together, Lee Kyung Kyu asked Seulgi, "How many years were you a trainee?" She answered, "About 7 years."

She explained,  "I continuously took singing and dancing lessons. They also teach you different languages - Chinese, Japanese, and English."

Seulgi confessed she felt fearful and insecure as her trainee time persisted for years. She said, "I started this career at a young age, and as time passed, I wondered if I would be able to make my debut and if I don't, then (I was lost because) this is the only thing I've done."

When asked, "Isn't it hard to just make it into there (SM Entertainment)?" Seulgi answered, "Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I got in. And I didn't sign the trainee contract right away. I signed after about a month. So in the beginning, I was fearful."
