BTS fans discovered that main vocalist Jungkook was not registered on the KOMCA (Korea Music Copyright Association) for the debut single "No More Dream." This seemed to irk fans as the singer is a co-composer of the song.
Fans expressed disappointment as Jungkook was only 15 years old when No More Dream was released, which indicates that the singer co-composed the song at quite a young age, yet his agency failed to properly credit him.
To protest, fans have been trending a hashtag, #BighitRespectJungkook, voicing their discontent towards the company. It had also been found that Jungkook had a major role in producing the song "Jamais vu," as mentioned by his fellow group members. Jamais vu is a part of the album "Map of the Soul: Persona," which was released in 2019. However, Bighit has not provided any official credits to Jungkook for this contribution.
It seems that the lack of credits for Jungkook extends beyond the area of music, and to his art as well. Jungkook had once drawn Bang Si Hyuk, the founder of the group's agency, using a design that was unique to Jungkook's idea and interpretation. The design was later used by Bang Si Hyuk as his official logo for a bakery he established, without providing royalties or credits to Jungkook, the creator of the design.
The lack of credits for Jungkook's design of Bang Si Hyuk had been mentioned by the singer himself.
