BTS member RM has been appointed as the first-ever global ambassador in the history of the National Museum of Korea.
On June 20 KST, the museum announced through its official channels that RM had officially taken on the role, marking a historic partnership between the global superstar and Korea’s leading national museum.
According to the museum, RM recently toured several exhibitions alongside museum director Yoo Hong Joon, including the upcoming special exhibition 'Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art' and the themed gallery exhibition 'Danwon Kim Hong Do: Painting an Era'. During the visit, he explored a variety of exhibits and treasured artifacts housed by the institution.
The National Museum of Korea highlighted RM’s long-standing interest in Korean culture and cultural heritage, noting that he has consistently demonstrated a deep appreciation for art and history.
“RM, who has shown sincere interest and affection for our cultural heritage and Korean culture, will now work with us as a global ambassador to share the value and beauty of Korean cultural heritage with audiences around the world,” the museum stated.
The institution added that it will continue working to connect the past and present, as well as Korea and the world, while creating more opportunities for people everywhere to experience Korean culture and art.
RM has long been known for his passion for museums, art collections, and Korean cultural heritage. His support for the arts has earned praise both in Korea and internationally, making his appointment a natural extension of his ongoing cultural advocacy.
Meanwhile, RM is currently active with BTS as the group continues its BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’.
