Baz Luhrmann, director of the film 'Elvis' says he wanted to work with K-pop icons after watching 2PM's performance 6 years ago

Baz Luhrmann, the Australian director of the film 'Elvis,' revealed his reasons for visiting South Korea - and that reason is to work with K-pop icons.

'Elvis' is expected to be another music film that will get its viewers to sing along with the most iconic songs, just as the film 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' This time, the songs of the legendary idol, Elvis Presley, will come alive on the big screen.

Baz Luhrmann came to visit South Korea following the release of the film on June 24. The director revealed the reason he came to South Korea was to work with K-pop icons. He revealed that he came to take an interest in K-pop and K-films after watching a performance by K-pop group 2PM six years ago. 

The director explained, "Elvis has a direct connection to K-pop. The fact that the (American) GI's brought Rock and Roll into Korea early on and it mixed with local talent. You see Korean culture being able to bridge (people) together." He added the reason for his visit to South Korea and explained, "I've been working with K-pop icons to make some music."
