With the growing popularity of K-content, more Chinese netizens are illegally accessing them

There is a growing issue of K-content copyright infringement in China.

The February 23 broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'Entertainment Company Live' broadcast on February 23 highlighted the growing issue of illegal streaming of Korean content in China.

On this day, 'Entertainment Company Live' introduced dramas such as 'The Glory,' 'Squid Game,' 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' and more that have been illegally distributed in China.

Regarding this, professor Seo Kyung Deok shared, "What's alarming is the illegal viewing of Korean content in China has become so commonplace, to the point where many people are unaware that it is even illegal." He added, "The Chinese authorities and state media need to intervene and take care of this issue."

An official from the Korean Copyright Protection Agency said, "The illegal distribution of Korean content in China is carried out in various ways and it is not just limited to one work. In January of this year alone, 16 Chinese illegal distribution sites of Korean dramas and shows were discovered." He added, "In the case for 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' we deleted 2,552 website posts that shared the drama illegally. We are pursuing measures to restrict search results and ads to prevent further copyright infringement on Korean content."
