Olympic medalist Nam Hyun Hee has been cleared of the charges involving ex-fiance Jun Chung Jo's fraud.
On March 5, police revealed they cleared Nam Hyun Hee of charges that she was an accomplice to her former fiance's fraud. The Olympic fencing medalist came under fire when her former fiance Jung Chung Jo was charged for scamming around 3 billion won ($2,249,162.10 USD) from 27 people by claiming to use the money for investments.
Though Nam Hyun Hee stated she was also a victim, some speculated she may have been an accomplice as she did receive gifts, including a Bentley vehicle and luxury bags. Last month, a Seoul district court sentenced Jun Chung Jo to 12 years in prison.
As previously reported, Jun Chung Jo claimed to be a third generation conglomerate heir and successful businessman, but it was later found she was neither an heir or even a man. Her criminal record related to fraud was also exposed, and she also claimed to have dated IU in the past.
