On October 3, the YouTube channel 'Season B Season' shared a video titled, “Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) meets his Self-Made Anyang High School Classmate who became an annual 30 Billion KRW (~22.4 million USD) restauranteur in the U.S.”
In the video, Rain, who was in LA, mentioned that he was planning to meet a former classmate from Anyang High School who had become a successful self-made entrepreneur. He shared, “It's been about a year since I last saw him. He runs several restaurants now, and his revenue reaches into the hundreds of billions of won. I think he’s the most successful among all my classmates.”
When Rain finally met his friend, he said, “Our old classmates are going to be shocked. Nobody knows that Min Sang made it big and is now living in the U.S.” He added, “What really impresses me is that not only is he rich, but he earned it through hard work. He started from the bottom, working in his restaurants, and now he's firmly established himself.” Rain revealed that his friend is the owner of four restaurants.
Rain went on to explain how they reconnected: “We hadn’t seen each other in 20 years, but by chance, we ran into each other in the U.S. about 3 or 4 years ago. It was such a remarkable coincidence.” Reflecting on their reunion, Rain recalled being amazed by his friend’s success, saying, “When he first told me he was running a restaurant, I thought to myself, ‘Is he starting from scratch at his age?’ But when I visited the place, it was a high-end restaurant packed with customers. If I hadn’t made a reservation through him, I wouldn’t have been able to get a table that day.”
His friend shared, "In Korean currency, that's about 30 million KRW (22,448.73 USD) in sales per day. Just from this one location. If you include all three, it reaches 100 million KRW a day (~74,829 USD)." He added that the combined annual revenue of his three restaurants is around 30 billion KRW, with total assets amounting to 50–60 billion KRW (37.5 million to 45 million USD). Rain responded in awe, saying, "You're like a big corporation."
The friend then recalled a story from their high school days when Rain had saved his life. "I grabbed onto something that looked like a steel bar, but it turned out to be high-voltage wire. I thought I was done for, but Rain knocked me away with his body," he said, calling Rain his life savior. Rain proudly added, "I saved several people."
His friend also acknowledged Rain’s hard work, saying, "I saw how tough it was for him since we were young. He really worked hard." Rain opened up, saying, "It wasn’t easy for me to get where I am now. Our classmates know how hard I worked. I didn’t have a single moment to slack off."
Rain then reflected on his friend's achievements, saying, "It’s incredible. A friend of mine succeeded in America. I haven’t even made it in the U.S. myself."
