IU-Aena donation initiative supports vulnerable groups worldwide

IU has made a generous donation of 500 million won (approximately $375,000 USD), spreading warmth and hope as the year comes to a close.

On the 25th, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced, “IU donated a total of 500 million won (approximately $375,000 USD) under the name ‘IU-Aena,’ a combination of her stage name and her fan club name, ‘Uaena,’ to support various underprivileged groups.” The donation was made through several domestic and international organizations, including Seoul Asan Medical Center, Seoul Children’s Welfare Association, Together Laughing World, and Warm Companions.

IU’s donation will be utilized across a variety of areas, including:

• Supporting elderly patients, cerebrovascular disease patients, and female cancer patients facing financial difficulties through Seoul Asan Medical Center.
• Empowering young people preparing for independence through the Seoul Children’s Welfare Association.
• Improving living conditions for vulnerable groups in shantytowns and semi-basements through Together Laughing World.
• Creating customized spaces for disabled individuals and providing advanced assistive devices through Warm Companions.
• Operating shelters for the homeless through the Open Welfare Foundation.
• Enhancing access to clean drinking water, sanitation, and healthcare for children overseas through Plan Korea.
• Supporting cultural and artistic activities for children from vulnerable groups through Children Walking Together.
• Providing hearing aids for hearing-impaired children through Snail of Love.

IU has consistently made donations on meaningful occasions such as her debut anniversary, birthday, and year-end, positively influencing society as a whole. In September, she donated 225 million won (approximately $170,000 USD) under the name 'IU-Aena' to commemorate her 16th debut anniversary.
