Lee Seung Gi’s agency has filed a lawsuit against the operator of an investment website for unauthorized use of his portrait rights.
On April 15, Big Planet Made Entertainment stated, “It has been confirmed that an internet investment site used Lee Seung Gi’s portraits without permission. We are currently pursuing legal action against the operator.”
The site in question used Lee Seung Gi’s photos to promote investment advertisements, falsely portraying him as a model for the company. It also ran various events to lure users into investing.
The agency emphasized that Lee Seung Gi has no connection to the site, stating, “Lee Seung Gi is in no way affiliated with this website. We ask the public to be especially cautious about unauthorized use of his image and misleading investment solicitations.”
Taking a firm stance, the agency revealed, “We have sent a legal notice to the site operator and are proceeding with all possible civil and criminal legal actions, including a formal complaint.”
They concluded, “We will not tolerate any illegal use of Lee Seung Gi’s portrait rights. We are doing everything we can to protect our artist and prevent harm to the public.”
