The 'ToGetHer' production team released an official statement regarding the latest controversy involving one of their contestants.
On April 29, cast member Kim Ri Won was embroiled in the controversy over her past activities as a provocative BJ (broadcast jockey or streamer). She issued an apology through her social media and explained, "I want to share the truth myself before causing any further harm, and offer my sincerest apologies. Regardless of my personal circumstances, I truly apologize for appearing on the show without informing the production team of my past, which has caused disappointment and pain to many."
Following Kim Ri Won's apology, 'ToGetHer' production team, ThisPlay Company, also issued a statement. The company wrote:
"Hello,
This is ThisPlay Company.
First, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported and followed 'ToGetHer.'
We, as the production team, deeply acknowledge our responsibility regarding the recent concerns caused by an issue related to one of the program’s cast members.
We would like to take this opportunity to explain the casting and production process of the program.
Casting for 'ToGetHer' was conducted through an open call for applicants as well as through proposals from casting directors who share aligned sexual orientations. We want to make it clear that there was no illegal or inappropriate approach involved in the casting process.
Additionally, we held in-depth interviews across three rounds to carefully assess each cast member. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that there were limitations in thoroughly verifying every aspect. We sincerely apologize for causing unexpected concern to our viewers due to this.
We also find it regrettable that excessive defamatory comments about the cast are being circulated on some online communities and social media platforms.
We earnestly ask that these indiscriminate attacks and expressions of hate toward the cast members come to an end.
Once again, we thank everyone who watches 'ToGetHer.' ThisPlay Company will continue to produce content with greater care and responsibility.
Thank you."
