DAY6 Jakarta concert marred by chaos and safety concerns

BY hjang · May 4, 2025

DAY6’s Jakarta stop on their FOREVER YOUNG world tour on May 3, 2025, has ignited major controversy among fans due to organizational failures and safety concerns. Fans are heavily criticizing the concert organizer, Mecima Pro, for poor planning, lack of adequate safety measures, and refusal to offer refunds after a sudden venue change.

Originally slated for the Jakarta International Stadium, the concert was moved last-minute to GBK Madya Stadium due to a scheduling conflict with a football event. The switch to an outdoor venue immediately raised concerns, especially given Indonesia’s unpredictable weather. Fans were particularly upset that no refund options were offered, leaving many feeling forced to attend despite their concerns.

On the day of the show, heavy rain and strong winds battered the venue. Fans were left waiting outside under temporary tents for hours, some of which reportedly collapsed under the weight of pooled rainwater. While no major injuries were reported, online videos and photos showed soaked attendees, damaged tents, and overwhelmed security, raising serious questions about the event’s safety preparations.

Anger escalated into protests outside the stadium, with fans chanting “MECIMA BUBAR” (“Mecima, disband”) to express their frustration. Although Mecima Pro eventually announced a delayed entry, many attendees felt the response was insufficient. Social media platforms were flooded with criticism, with hashtags like #Day6JakartaScam and #MecimaProFail trending globally.

Inside the venue, DAY6 members were reportedly aware of the chaos. Wonpil was seen onstage apologizing to the crowd, saying “I’m sorry,” while other members appeared involved in tense backstage discussions, seemingly trying to help resolve the situation. Fans praised the band for comforting the audience, while emphasizing that the fault lay squarely with the organizers.

their last stop of (int) world tour ended like this. young k, you did well today. you deserved to be happy.

i cant stand the members being confused, crying, apologetic like this when promotor didn’t give proper treatment for both artist and fans. #DAY6_3RD_WORLDTOUR_Jakarta pic.twitter.com/ihe32acxhc
