The highly anticipated collaboration exhibition between The Boyz and the popular character brand Esther Bunny has been officially cancelled following the recent scandal involving former group member Ju Hak Nyeon.
The exhibition, titled 'Esther Bunny: In Search of Myself,' was set to feature special mascot versions of The Boyz members and offer interactive sections and exclusive fan events.
However, Esther Bunny released an official statement on June 18, announcing that the exhibition has been cancelled. Esther Bunny stated, "We sincerely thank everyone who has been waiting for the 'Esther Bunny: In Search of Myself' exhibition. This exhibition, which was prepared with deep affection to reflect our brand slogan 'Love myself, Love yourself,' has unfortunately been canceled after much deliberation due to unforeseen external circumstances."
The company apologized, "We deeply apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the event. All tickets will be fully refunded. We will do our best to return with a wonderful Esther Bunny exhibition in the future.”
Ju Hak Nyeon reportedly met former AV actress Asuka Kirara at a private bar in Tokyo in late May, where they were seen drinking and acting intimately. He is alleged to have paid her after a private encounter that night, raising suspicions of prostitution.
His agency, One Hundred Label, discovered evidence of the act while investigating his personal life. Though Ju Hak Nyeon initially denied the allegations, he admitted to them when presented with proof.
Under South Korean law, including for acts committed abroad, prostitution is punishable by up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 3 million KRW (~2,186 USD).
