While idol singers often perform original soundtracks (OSTs), many talented non-idol actors have surprised audiences by lending their voices to the OSTs of their own dramas. Their singing abilities, combined with their acting prowess, create a deeper connection between the characters and the viewers.
Here’s a look at some of the popular non-idol Korean actors who have sung OSTs for their own dramas.
Known for both his acting and singing, Ji Chang Wook has performed several OSTs, including “101 Reasons Why I Like You” (Suspicious Partner), "When Love Passes By" (Melting Me Softly), “I Will Protect You” (Healer), “To the Butterfly” (Empress Ki) etc. The musical drama “The Sound of Magic” further proved his vocal charm.
Even now, Nam Joo Hyuk as Baek Yi-jin from ‘Twenty-Five, Twenty-One’ lingers in the hearts of fans. Making his OST debut with this hit K-drama, he joined the cast to perform “With,” which quickly became one of the series’ most beloved songs.
In his recent hit ‘Queen of Tears,’ Kim Soo Hyun sang “Way Home,” which became popular upon release. His other notable OSTs include “Dream High” (Dream High), “The One and Only You” (Moon Embracing the Sun), and “If I” (My Love from the Star).

Byeon Woo Seok’s role as Ryu Sun-jae, an idol in his hit series, ‘Lovely Runner,’ was perfectly complemented by his vocal performances. He delivered multiple OSTs, including “Sudden Shower,” “Run Run,” “You and I,” “No Fate,” and “I’ll Be There.”
For his 2024 drama ‘Love Next Door,’ Jung Hae In performed the final OST “The Truth” and also sang “My Noise” for ‘Connect.’ His ability to express vulnerability both through acting and song makes his performances feel deeply personal.
Park Bo Gum is widely known as a successful actor-singer, yet he has only sung a few OSTs despite his vocal prowess. His contributions include “My Persona” from ‘Love in the Moonlight’ and “Waterfall” from ‘Good Boy.’ His limited but impactful OSTs have left fans wanting more.
Hyun Bin’s singing might be a lesser-known facet of his career, but it’s one that fans still cherish. For the classic hit ‘Secret Garden,’ he performed “That Man,” which became a defining moment for the drama, helping to intensify its romantic atmosphere and emotional depth.
Jo Jung Suk is one of the most prolific actors in the OST scene. He sang numerous OSTs like “Dreams Come True,” “Might Gonna,” and “With You” for ‘What’s Up,’ “I Completely Love You” for ‘You Are the Best,’ “Gimme a Chocolate” for ‘Oh My Ghost,’ and “Aloha” and “I Like You” for ‘Hospital Playlist.’
