Northern California Court approves HYBE request to obtain identifying information about malicious SNS user who targeted Seventeen

The United States District Court for the Northern District of California has approved of a request filed by HYBE Labels, asking the cooperation of X and Google in obtaining identifying information about the spreader of malicious content intended to harm Seventeen. 

According to an order issued by the Northern California Court on November 25 KST, X and Google must hand over the identifying information requested by HYBE Labels for use in the ongoing lawsuit against the malicious content spreader, 'A'. Previously in May, HYBE Labels filed a lawsuit against 'A' for spreading malicious speech and content between March through December of last year. According to HYBE Labels, 'A' used an anonymous X account to accuse Seventeen of "misogynistic speech" and "inappropriate relations", spreading malicious allegations that severely damaged Seventeen and tarnished their reputation. 

However, the lawsuit could not move forward due to the SNS user's anonymity and HYBE's inability to pursue legal action against an identified individual. 

Now, with the Northern California Court's order, HYBE Labels will be able to obtain information such as the SNS user's name, registration date, birth date, emails, SNS usage history, address, and more. Both X and Google must hand over the requested information by HYBE Labels in approximately 45 days.

It's expected that once the relevant information is obtained, HYBE Labels will proceed forward with the lawsuit against 'A' for targeting and slandering Seventeen.
