Comedian Park Mi Sun, who recently revealed she is battling breast cancer, made a rare television appearance.
At the end of the November 5 broadcast of tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ (Episode 317), Park Mi Sun appeared in the preview for the next episode, showing her partially gray, closely cropped hair.
Host Yoo Jae Suk introduced her as “my dear sister who’s returned looking healthy,” to which Park responded with her signature humor, saying, “There have been too many fake news reports. I came to let everyone know I’m still alive.”
Opening up about her breast cancer diagnosis, Park Mi Sun shared, “I had an outdoor shoot scheduled. I planned to start radiation treatment afterward. But when I opened up and checked—this is the first time I’m saying this publicly…” drawing attention with her candid confession.
Referring to her shaved head, she asked, “Don’t I look like Furiosa?”—a nod to the Mad Max character—then added, “You can laugh,” showing her unchanging wit even in the midst of illness, as Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho sat momentarily speechless.
Yoo Jae Suk then told her that a video letter had arrived for her, and upon watching it, Park Mi Sun couldn’t hold back tears, leaving viewers curious about the sender’s identity.
Earlier this year, Park Mi Sun halted all activities in January. At the time, her agency CUBE Entertainment stated, “Park Mi Sun is taking a break for health reasons.” Later, reports surfaced that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, to which the agency carefully responded, “We cannot confirm specifics as it concerns personal medical information. However, she is indeed on a health-related hiatus.”
