According to exclusive reports, Stray Kids’ Seungmin will collaborate with legendary Korean rock band YB for a special stage at MBC’s ‘2025 Gayo Daejejeon,’ airing live on December 31. The unexpected collaboration between a top-tier K-pop group and one of Korea’s most iconic rock bands is already being hailed as a “once-in-a-generation” performance.

As one of the most in-demand acts of the year-end season, Stray Kids were a natural choice for MBC’s anniversary lineup. However, the collaboration with YB carries special meaning. Industry insiders revealed that YB personally requested the collaboration, having been impressed by Stray Kids’ passion and energy after noticing the group’s enthusiastic reaction during YB’s performance at the 38th Golden Disc Awards last year.

Stray Kids continue to dominate both domestically and globally, recently ranking No. 10 on Billboard’s ‘Top Tour 2025’ chart, the highest placement among K-pop artists. The group has also made history by becoming the first act ever to debut eight consecutive albums at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, spanning from ODDINARY to their latest release DO IT.
This achievement places them alongside legendary acts like The Beatles
and The Rolling Stones in terms of total Billboard 200 No. 1 albums by
groups.
YB, celebrating their 30th anniversary since debut, are widely regarded as one of Korea’s most influential rock bands. The collaboration is expected to blend YB’s seasoned rock sound with Seungmin’s emotive vocals, creating a powerful cross-genre stage that bridges generations of Korean music.
MBC’s ‘Gayo Daejejeon’, marking its 20th anniversary this year under the theme “Gayo Daejejeon – Mŏt,” promises upgraded production and bold artist combinations. The live broadcast will be hosted by SHINee’s Minho, Hwang Minhyun, and ALLDAY PROJECT’s Annie, and will air at 8:50 PM KST on December 31.
With anticipation already soaring, fans are eager to see how this historic collaboration between Stray Kids’ Seungmin and YB will unfold on one of Korea’s biggest year-end stages.
