BLACKPINK's Jisoo faces netizen backlash for saying she didn't cry at the final filming session of 'Boyfriend on Demand'

BLACKPINK's Jisoo is currently receiving criticism from K-netizens after her recent remarks.

On March 6, Jisoo made a special guest appearance on Hyeri's show 'Hyell's Club.' Jisoo appeared alongside her co-star Seo In Guk, as the two shared behind-the-scenes stories from their newly-released drama 'Boyfriend on Demand.'

One section of the video drew netizens' attention in particular, when Jisoo discussed the final filming session for the drama. She revealed that everyone else, including the directors, was crying after filming had wrapped for the final time - but that Jisoo hadn't cried and didn't understand what was sad about the moment.

"The directors cried a lot, so I vividly remember comforting them, like, 'You worked hard.' But my tears just didn't come... I actually thought about it deeply. On the last day, I tried to dig deep into the emotion, but I couldn't understand what was sad about it... I was excited? Like, 'who wants a group photo?!'"

In response to Jisoo's comment, many netizens reacted negatively. On social media, netizens made scathing remarks like "Now I understand why her acting is like that," "Isn't the reason she didn't cry actually because she just doesn't care about the project?", "She must not have been fully immersed in her work," and "That's such a careless remark."

However, some netizens also jumped in to defend Jisoo. Other comments included, "Every person on set can feel differently about the situation," "Just because she didn't cry doesn't mean she doesn't care about the project," "She's just being honest, but some people seem to be over-interpreting her words," and "It seems like everyone is exaggerating her comments."

In 'Boyfriend on Demand,' Jisoo plays Mirae, a webtoon producer who explores a virtual reality dating simulation. Tired of her everyday life, Mirae sets off on a journey of romance and personal growth.

Jisoo also starred in JTBC's "Snowdrop" in 2021, followed by Coupang Play's original series "Newtopia" and the film "Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy' - but she has consistently faced controversy over her acting skills. In particular, her recent film 'Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy' sparked criticism of Jisoo's line delivery and immersion in the character.

Consequently, her new drama, 'Boyfriend on Demand,' faced concerns even before it was released. Even after its release, reactions have been mixed, with some harshly criticizing the drama and others praising Jisoo's improved acting skills.
