
The nominees for the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards have officially been announced, and as expected, the lineup is packed with some of the most talked-about and critically acclaimed K-dramas of the year. Known as one of South Korea’s most prestigious award ceremonies, the Baeksang Arts Awards celebrates excellence across television, film, and theatre.
The ‘Best Drama’ category highlights the very best of Korean television over the past year. Take a look at the five K-dramas nominated for the award:
Starring Park Bo Young, ‘Our Unwritten Seoul’ centers on Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae, identical twins leading completely different lives. Once a rising track and field star, Mi Ji now lives a carefree life, while Mi Rae has followed a path of excellence since her school days and now works at a public corporation. When Mi Ji discovers her sister is suffering from workplace bullying, she makes a bold decision to switch lives with her for a few months.
‘The Dream Life of Mr. Kim’ follows the story of Kim Nak Su, a seasoned salesman with 25 years of experience who seemingly has it all. Renowned for his exceptional performance and flawless promotion record, he enjoys a comfortable life with a prime apartment in Seoul and a loving family. However, as both his career and personal life begin to unravel, Nak Su is forced to reevaluate everything and set out on a journey to find his true self.
‘You and Everything Else’ follows lifelong friends Ryu Eun Jung and Cheon Sang Yeon, whose bond has long been shaped by admiration, envy, and unspoken misunderstandings. Now 42, Eun Jung is a drama writer while Sang Yeon is a successful film producer. When Sang Yeon is diagnosed with terminal cancer, she asks Eun Jung to remain by her side, forcing both women to confront their shared past, lingering regrets, and the complicated emotions that define their relationship.
In 1323, a ship carrying 8,000 gold coins and 20,000 valuable Chinese ceramic pots sank in the Yellow Sea. While many of the pots were recovered over time, the gold was never found. Centuries later, in the 1970s, small-time criminals Gwan Seok and his nephew Hee Dong meet antique dealer Song Gi Taek while serving time in prison. After their release in 1977, Gi Taek proposes a risky deal to recover the remaining ceramics in exchange for a hefty reward.
Adapted from the web novel ‘Surviving as Yeonsan-gun’s Chef,’ ‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty’ follows Yeon Ji Yeong, a modern-day French-trained chef at the height of her career who is suddenly transported back to the royal palace of the Joseon Dynasty. There, she is forced to cook for King Yi Heon, a notoriously volatile tyrant with an unforgiving palate. As their worlds collide, an unexpected romance begins to bloom.
