Comedian Lee Jin Ho regains consciousness after brain hemorrhage, enters recovery

Comedian Lee Jin Ho, who collapsed from a sudden acute brain hemorrhage and had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, has regained consciousness after nine days and entered the recovery phase. 

Having once been at a critical crossroads between life and death, his condition has recently improved enough for him to be moved to a general ward. It has also been reported that his cognitive abilities have recovered to the point where he can recognize people around him.

In particular, the swift response of his colleagues played a decisive role in securing the “golden time” during his critical moment. The first person to detect something was wrong and report it to emergency services was Kangin, while longtime close friend Lee Yong Jin is said to have been the first to rush to the emergency room after hearing the urgent news, adding both sadness and a sense of warmth to the situation.

According to reports from Newsis and other outlets on April 14, Lee Jin Ho, who collapsed on April 1 and had been receiving intensive care, showed improvement on April 10 and was transferred to a general ward. He has since regained enough cognitive function to recognize acquaintances and continues treatment under medical supervision.

Regained Consciousness After 9 Days… Now in General Ward

It was revealed that Kangin’s quick response was crucial in helping Lee Jin Ho overcome the life-threatening crisis and secure the critical window for treatment. While on a call with him on April 1, Kangin noticed unusual symptoms during their conversation. When he was unable to reconnect afterward, he immediately called emergency services. Paramedics dispatched to the scene transported Lee Jin Ho to a hospital in Seoul, where he was found collapsed near his home and was able to receive urgent care.

Lee Yong Jin First to Arrive at ER, Stayed by His Side

According to Star News, the first person to rush to the emergency room and stay by Lee Jin Ho’s side after hearing the urgent news of his hospitalization was his longtime colleague and close friend, Lee Yong Jin. Upon hearing the news from an acquaintance that afternoon, he immediately went to a university hospital in Seoul, where he personally confirmed Lee Jin Ho’s critical condition and expressed deep concern.

Kangin, who made the initial emergency call, was reportedly unable to visit the hospital immediately due to various circumstances. In the early stages of the incident, visits were limited to immediate family members and only a few close acquaintances due to the severity of Lee Jin Ho’s condition. Lee Yong Jin stayed at the hospital, hoping for his friend’s recovery, and continued to check on his condition even after returning home.

Incident Occurred Amid Self-Reflection Over Past Controversies

Lee Jin Ho, who debuted in 2005 through SBS’s 'People Looking for Laugh,' has been active in various entertainment programs. However, he had recently been taking time for self-reflection following a series of controversies. 

In 2024, he admitted to past involvement in illegal online gambling, which led to issues involving debts amounting to billions of KRW. Then, in September of last year, during his self-reflection period, he was caught driving under the influence from Incheon to Yangpyeong County, drawing public criticism. His blood alcohol level at the time was reportedly high enough to warrant license cancellation.

Currently, Lee Jin Ho is focusing solely on recovering his health in a general ward with support from his agency and those around him. His agency stated that he is in the process of regaining consciousness after the sudden collapse and is concentrating on treatment. As news of his recovery after nine days of struggle spreads, attention is now turning to the course of his rehabilitation going forward.
