Singer and actress IU expressed heartfelt gratitude to her close friends, actor Yoo Subin and actress Lee Yeon, for their support following the passing of her maternal grandfather.
On the April 24 broadcast of MBC’s variety show 'I Live Alone,' Yoo Subin appeared while sharing his daily life, joined by IU and Lee Yeon, who are currently co-starring with him in the drama 'Perfect Crown.'
The trio spent time walking along the Han River and visited Yoo Subin’s favorite Chinese restaurant, where they enjoyed comforting dishes including puffer fish soup. IU also joked that Yoo Subin had “disappeared into his group chat” after beginning filming for his new movie 'High School Detective,' drawing laughter from the group.
During their conversation, IU opened up about her recent loss and revealed that only two friends attended her grandfather’s funeral, Yoo Subin and Lee Yeon. “My parents also said they were very grateful to the two of you,” she shared. “You were the only friends who came. I was really touched that you came without hesitation.”
She also noted that both friends thoughtfully brought chocolates for the mourning family. “Subin brought a variety of chocolates, which were especially helpful in the mornings when everyone was exhausted,” IU said. “Yeon also brought chocolates afterward. I was really grateful.” IU added that her parents had praised Yoo Subin’s appearance, joking that he would be happy to hear it, which lightened the mood during the conversation.
The three continue to appear together in MBC’s Friday–Saturday drama 'Perfect Crown,' airing every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM KST.
