Kim Gyu Ri says police questioning completed, vows to “break 18-year cycle” of online abuse

BY Demian09 · April 28, 2026

Actress Kim Gyu Ri shared that she has completed a police interrogation as part of ongoing legal action against online commenters, stating that she intends to put an end to what she describes as 18 years of persistent malicious attacks.

On April 28, Kim posted on her personal account that she had finished a complainant interview, saying, “I completed the investigation as a complainant. Last time it was at Gangnam, today at Yongin Western Police Station. The process is steadily moving forward.”

She added that the cases involve allegations of insult, spreading false information, and defamation. “I told you before. I will no longer stay silent. I need to break the cycle that has continued for 18 years. Even if it takes time, I will see it through to the end,” she wrote.

Kim also provided an update on a previous case, stating that one identified individual she had earlier filed a complaint against is currently undergoing a criminal trial. She noted that a verdict is expected around June.

The actress has long been associated with public controversy stemming from a 2008 social media post in which she criticized government policy during the U.S. beef import protests. During the administration of former President Lee Myung Bak, she was also reportedly listed on a cultural blacklist. Although she later won a related lawsuit in 2017, she has continued to face politically motivated online harassment.

Last year, Kim publicly announced her decision to pursue legal action against malicious commenters, signaling a more proactive stance against cyberbullying. In her latest message, she concluded with a brief personal note, wishing readers a good day.
