Kim Hye Yoon rises as a new “horror queen” with a box office hit.

The film 'Salmokji: Whispering Water,' starring Kim Hye Yoon, has officially surpassed 1 million viewers, cementing her status as a rising “horror queen.”

On its 10th day since release (April 17), the horror film crossed the 1 million admissions mark, bringing renewed energy to theaters.

Following its break-even point, 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' reached the milestone in just 10 days—a pace that marks the fastest among horror films since 'Metamorphosis' (2019). Notably, it achieved the feat one day faster than its competitor 'Project Hail Mary,' drawing further attention to its box office momentum.

The film has also held firmly onto the No. 1 spot at the box office for nine consecutive days since its release. To celebrate surpassing its break-even point, the cast held a special stage greeting event in ghost makeup on April 15, generating another wave of buzz.

Audience reactions reflect the film’s growing popularity and repeat viewings. Comments include: “Even after multiple viewings, it’s still terrifying and fun every time,” “I didn’t expect to watch it more than once, but now I’m going back again—maybe I’m under Salmokji’s spell,” and “The more you watch it, the more new meanings you discover in each scene.”

Having surpassed 1 million viewers, 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' tells the story of a mysterious figure captured on a road-view camera, and a film crew that encounters something lurking in the dark depths of a reservoir when they return for reshooting. The film premiered on April 8.

Meanwhile, Kim Hye Yoon recently faced disappointment with her drama Starting Today, I’m Human due to low ratings. However, she has quickly rebounded with 'Salmokji: Whispering Water,' which has surpassed its break-even point and is emerging as a box office success—solidifying her position as a new horror queen on the big screen.
