One of SBS’s biggest franchise dramas is officially returning with a brand-new lineup after two years.
The series in question is the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Good Partner.' Known as Korea’s first human courtroom office drama centered around a divorce law firm, the production reportedly began full-scale filming in March 2026 and is aiming to premiere in the second half of this year.
The upcoming second season is drawing major attention due to the overwhelming success of Season 1. The finale previously soared to a peak nationwide rating of 21% according to Nielsen Korea, ranking No. 1 not only among Friday-Saturday dramas but across all TV programs airing that week. The drama also topped the coveted 2049 demographic ratings in its time slot.

Season 1 followed star divorce attorney Cha Eun Kyung, played by Jang Na Ra, and rookie lawyer Han Yu Ri, played by Nam Ji Hyun, as they tackled various cases at Korea’s first divorce-focused law firm.
Writer Choi Yu Na, who previously worked as a real-life divorce attorney, received praise for breaking stereotypes surrounding divorce through scripts inspired by real experiences. The series earned explosive viewer sympathy by realistically portraying emotionally charged cases involving infidelity, custody battles, and alimony disputes.
Season 2 will feature major casting changes. Nam Ji Hyun reportedly exited due to scheduling conflicts, while Kim Hye Yoon joins as Jang Na Ra’s new partner at the same law firm. Park Hae Jin will appear as a lawyer from a rival firm.
Last month, Jang Na Ra heightened anticipation after posting a behind-the-scenes photo in character wearing a sharp suit, captioned, “It’s Cha Eun Kyung.” Fans responded enthusiastically to the return of the charismatic attorney.
Particular attention is focused on Kim Hye Yoon’s addition to the cast. Following her global breakout success with 'Lovely Runner,' viewers are eager to see the chemistry between her and Jang Na Ra. Expectations are high for the synergy between Jang Na Ra, who won the Grand Prize at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards for 'Good Partner,' and Kim Hye Yoon, who led an international drama phenomenon.

A special teaser first unveiled during the 2025 SBS Drama Awards also generated explosive buzz. In the clip, Cha Eun Kyung confidently says, “Just trust me,” before Kim Hye Yoon’s character responds, “No, trust me!” making a memorable entrance.
The return of 'Good Partner 2' is part of SBS’s expanding franchise strategy. Over the past six years, Studio S has planned and produced around 60 projects, including mega-hit dramas such as Stove League, 'The Penthouse: War in Life,' 'Dr. Romantic,' 'Taxi Driver,' and 'The Fiery Priest' — all of which surpassed 20% ratings.
'Dr. Romantic' reached a peak rating of 28.4% across its three seasons, while 'Taxi Driver' maintained ratings in the 25% range throughout all three seasons. 'The Fiery Priest' also proved SBS’s franchise power by extending its success into Season 2.
At the SBS Drama Media Day event held on June 1, Studio S CEO Hong Sung Chang stated, “We are continuing to expand our seasonal drama strategy based on trust,” adding, “The trust between production staff and actors is the strength of SBS dramas.”

In the second half of 2026, 'Good Partner 2' will air alongside 'Flex X Cop' Season 2, starring Ahn Bo Hyun and Jung Eun Chae. SBS is also preparing 'The Judge from Hell' Season 2, starring Park Shin Hye, for 2027.
Kim Ki Seul, head of SBS programming, expressed confidence in the network’s lineup, stating, “Our strength lies in delivering catharsis through strong universes and uniquely compelling characters.” 'Good Partner 2' is likewise aiming for another major hit with the powerful character of Cha Eun Kyung and its established divorce law firm setting.
Fans reacted enthusiastically after news of the second season broke. Online communities and social media were flooded with comments such as, “I’m already excited for Cha Eun Kyung’s return,” “I can’t wait to see Kim Hye Yoon’s chemistry with Jang Na Ra,” and “Looks like I’ll be binge-watching all night again.”
The confirmed cast includes Jang Na Ra, Park Hae Jin, Kim Hye Yoon, and Pyo Ji Hoon. Writer Choi Yu Na will once again pen the script, continuing the established universe from Season 1.
SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama 'Good Partner 2' is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2026.
