Netflix responds cautiously to reports on 'Culinary Class Wars' Season 3 filming schedule amid cast speculation

BY K-Soul · April 28, 2026

Netflix has responded cautiously regarding production plans for Season 3 of its hit cooking survival program 'Culinary Class Wars.'

On April 28, Netflix stated to multiple media outlets, “Regarding reports that Season 3 will begin filming in May, as this is a survival-format program, we ask for your understanding that details related to the production cannot currently be confirmed.

The statement comes in response to a report by Star News claiming that filming for Culinary Class Wars 3 is set to begin in May. If true, the new season would enter production roughly four months after Season 2 concluded in January, indicating a relatively fast turnaround.

'Culinary Class Wars' is a cooking competition show that pits renowned star chefs known as “white spoons” against skilled but lesser-known chefs referred to as “black spoons.” Both Season 1 and Season 2 achieved global success, ranking No. 1 in Netflix’s non-English show category worldwide.

Season 3 is reportedly expected to introduce a new format that moves away from individual battles to “restaurant team competitions.” Chefs who have worked together at the same establishment will form teams of four to compete against each other, signaling a significant structural shift that has raised anticipation among viewers.

The biggest point of attention remains the judging panel. Whether Baek Jong Won and An Sung Jae, who played key roles in Seasons 1 and 2, will return has become a major topic of interest.

Baek Jong Won recently announced a temporary halt to his broadcasting activities following various controversies, including allegations related to food sanitation law violations and country-of-origin labeling issues. However, as some allegations were cleared, he has stated, “I am not considering returning to broadcasts at the moment, but I will take the situation into account,” leaving open the possibility of a future return.

An Sung Jae also faced criticism after apologizing for the controversy surrounding the serving of wine vintages at his restaurant Mosu Seoul, stating that “confusion was caused due to unclear communication.”

With both main judges having been involved in recent controversies, there is growing curiosity over whether they will continue in their roles or be replaced by new figures in Season 3.

Culinary Class Wars 3 is reportedly included in Netflix’s “Next on Netflix 2026” lineup and is currently in production, intending to release later this year.
