BY K-Soul · April 23, 2026

The film 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' has maintained its No. 1 position at the box office despite a wave of new releases.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system on April 22, 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' drew 43,402 moviegoers that day, pushing its cumulative audience past 1,591,908.

Even with multiple new films opening on the same day, it did not relinquish the top spot. New releases included 'Ran 12.3,' 'Audition 109,' and 'Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.'

The film’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Since its release on April 8, it has remained No. 1 for 15 consecutive days. The horror film, built on a familiar premise, has captivated theatergoers.

Director Lee Myung Se’s 'Ran 12.3' debuted in second place. The documentary examines the martial law incident that took place on December 3, 2024, and attracted 37,037 viewers on its opening day.

'Audition 109' and 'Project Hail Mary' followed in third and fourth place, drawing 26,848 and 17,663 viewers, respectively. 'The King's Warden' rounded out the top five with 10,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, 'Salmokji: Whispering Water' is a horror film set around a reservoir of the same name. It follows a road-view filming crew that encounters something lurking deep beneath the water.
