Seo In Young reveals severe panic attacks during her hardest years, moved to tears by emotional letter from her sister

Singer Seo In Young expressed deep gratitude toward her younger sister, who stayed by her side during her difficult period following the “verbal abuse controversy,” when she struggled with panic attacks and paralysis symptoms.

On April 17, a preview clip of Seo In Young’s upcoming appearance on 'You Quiz on the Block,' scheduled to air on April 22, was released on tvN’s official channel.

During the episode, host Yoo Jae Suk asked Seo In Young, “At that time, mentally you were not in a condition where you could manage or control yourself in many ways, so your family came to see you and helped you get back up. Your family must have been a great support.” He referred to the period after her controversy when she paused her activities and went through emotional and physical hardship.

In response, Seo In Young said, “Panic attacks, paralysis, and seizures happened often. I would collapse. Actually, I shouldn’t have been drinking, but at that time, when I wanted to forget everything, alcohol felt good. Taking medication with alcohol made everything worse.” She continued, “Because I collapsed so often, my younger sister lived with constant anxiety for several years.”

Seo In Young added, “Because of that verbal abuse incident, my sister had to live carrying the consequences of what I did. She was not really living her own life.” She explained that whenever she could not be reached, her sister would immediately run to her, and would often find her collapsed, then carry her to bed while Seo In Young had no memory of it.

She also shared, “When paralysis came, she would massage me. I also could not go to the hospital easily because if it became known, it would be too embarrassing. I had nothing to justify. I am very sorry and also very grateful for those times.” She expressed her remorse and gratitude toward her sister, who stayed with her throughout those difficult years.

The broadcast also revealed a letter written by Seo In Young’s younger sister. In the letter, she wrote, “It has been 40 years since we were born as sisters. Many things have happened over that time, but as our mother always said, because we have each other, we have found comfort, reassurance, and happiness throughout our lives. To me, my sister is sometimes like a troublesome seven-year-old child, sometimes like a friend, and sometimes like a mother.”

While reading the letter, Seo In Young became overwhelmed with emotion and broke down in tears.
