On May 10, the iconic second-generation girl group Apink successfully held their long-awaited concert in Manila, Philippines. This milestone marked their first-ever solo concert in the country since their debut 15 years ago in 2011.
The quintet—Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Namjoo, and Hayoung—opened ‘The Origin: Apink’ in Manila with nostalgic hits “I Don’t Know,” “BUBIBU,” and “My My.” Hearing the thunderous cheers of fans who had waited over a decade, the members expressed being "touched to the point of getting goosebumps."
The setlist featured fan favorites including “NoNoNo,” “Overwrite,” “Remember,” “%% (Eung Eung),” “Dilemma,” “I’m so sick,” “LUV,” “Mr. Chu,” and “Love Me More.” Despite 15 years in the industry, their vocal prowess remains undiminished. They proved they are still "the Apink" everyone knows: dominating the stage and effortlessly hitting high notes live from start to finish.
There was never a dull moment throughout the show, even during costume changes. Beyond their impressive performances, Apink brought plenty of laughter during breaks and through specially prepared VCRs. They introduced a hilarious "what if" scenario: "If Apink were a boy group," naming their alter egos Agreen. The members appeared in stylish, boyish outfits and brought the concept to life with a powerful cover of TVXQ!’s “Mirotic.”
While the wait was long, it was undeniably worth it. The evening was a mix of overwhelming joy and nostalgia, moving both the audience and the members to tears. The group expressed heartfelt "sorrow" for taking so long to visit Manila.
To close the night, a final VCR revealed a vulnerable side of the group, reflecting on their 15-year journey. The members shared moving messages, looking back on a career defined by resilience through every up and down.
“That fresh, youthful feeling like around our fifth anniversary, it’s still the same,” said Namjoo in the VCR they prepared for fans.
“The 15th anniversary is really… It’s by no means a short amount of time, and I feel so, so grateful to everyone who has been with us,” Bomi expressed.
Having spent over a decade working together not just as colleagues but as a family, Hayoung noted that even without speaking, they can sense how one another feels. “Now, even if we just look at each other without saying anything, we can perfectly catch, ‘Oh, this is how she’s feeling right now.’”
Chorong added, “I’ve said so many times, ‘I’m so glad I met these members.’ It’s not easy for friends who grew up in such different environments to fit together so well.”
Eunji said, “I hope that, just like now, we can keep playfully hanging out together—growing older in age only—and continue living with that same vibe, like classmates who’ve known each other forever.”
As the show came to an end, the members expressed their heartfelt gratitude once more.
Bomi: “First of all, this is our very first solo concert in the Philippines. This was our very first concert, and your cheers from beginning to end were very loud. Your energy is so high to the point that I can’t believe it’s already the end of the show. I want to remember this energy you gave us, so I’ll remember it when hard times come. I hope you remember the fun time we had tonight.”
Chorong: “We were able to hold our first solo concert in the Philippines commemorating our 15th anniversary, so it’s very meaningful to us. Starting from the beginning, once we entered the stage, the cheers were so loud to the point that I couldn’t hear myself in my in-ears. You really waited for us, but we came too late, right? Starting from this show, we really hope we’ll have more time to be with Filipino Pandas more often. I think it’s great that we did our last show here in the Philippines. Thank you so much for all your cheers throughout the show. We really had fun. See you next time. Always stay healthy. Thank you.”
Eunji: “I think time flew so fast today. It flew so fast that the wait you endured felt like nothing. I felt really good that we were able to meet on this great day. We’re going to meet again, right? This is the last show of the tour, and we’re celebrating all the hardships that we went through. I could say this was a great day because the last show was with you. See you soon.”
Hayoung: “First of all, thank you for being together with us for this show. There were a lot of things that fans prepared for us—the gifts, the food. I want to say that we were really thankful for all the things you prepared for us. I’ll make sure to not take these things for granted. We want to come back to the Philippines as soon as possible. Let’s also make another great memory if there comes another opportunity to come back to the Philippines again.”
Namjoo: “Thank you so much for coming to our concert tonight. Your energy and passion made us so incredibly happy today. The final stop of the Apink tour is with all of you. Honestly, we feel really sorry that it took so long to visit you. We want to come see you much more in the future. We want to share more performances and memories with you. From our ‘Love Me More’ promotions to this tour, I want to say how thankful I am to the members. Thank you for loving each other and staying for each other. You all worked so hard. I will never forget the memories we made together on this tour. I think we’ll continue on forever. Whenever you’re tired or struggling, please find happiness and comfort in us. This moment means the world to us.”
Apink’s Manila stop (presented by Wish Us Luck) marked the final stop of their ‘The Origin: Apink’ tour in Asia, which included stops in Seoul, Taipei, Macau, Singapore, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur.
