BY Helena-son · May 17, 2026

Celebrating his 20th year in music, BIGBANG’s Taeyang appeared on a TV news show for the first time. He shared his excitement about his new music, BIGBANG's journey, and his life goals.

His 4th album, 'Quintessence', comes out on May 18—his birthday! He did not plan this on purpose, but he is very happy. "It feels like a birthday gift I can give to my fans," he said.

The main song is "Live Fast, Die Slow". It changes the famous phrase "Live fast, die young". Taeyang explained that the world moves so fast today. This song is about finding your own speed and direction in life. He also shared his favorite lyric: "Time doesn't stop for me, you are still exactly as you were back then, wake me up, now now now." This shows his deep thanks for his fans' unchanging love.

BIGBANG recently performed at the huge Coachella music festival to celebrate their 20th year. Preparing for this big stage after a long time made him a bit nervous, but their teamwork was perfect because they have been together for so long. When asked about BIGBANG's best song, he said it will be their next song! He hopes to plan more events, tours, and new music to meet fans soon.

Working in the music business for 20 years is not easy. Taeyang thanked his honest friends and his BIGBANG members for helping him stay strong during tough times. Now, his biggest goal is to be a great role model for younger singers. For this new album, he simply wants to do his absolute best and hear people say, "As expected of Taeyang."
