Billlie's agency denies plagiarism claims after French animation school warns legal action

BY Susan-Han · May 2, 2026

Billlie's agency Mystic Story has spoken up to deny claims of plagiarism related to the group's comeback art film 'cartography of the unconscious'.

Earlier this week, the French animation school GOBELINS Paris issued a statement warning legal action toward Billlie over suspicions of plagiarism. The accusations of plagiarism initially arose shortly after Billlie released the comeback art film last week on April 23 KST, after which some onlookers noticed art style similarities to the short film 'Niccolò' (2025).

In response, Mystic Story has stepped up with the following remark: "The art film in question was produced based on the director's prior sketch and creative vision. There was no intention of plagiarism or unlawful usage of any specific piece."

Previously, Mystic Story also apologized to fans for the use of AI in the art film, promising to revisit its generative AI policies for creative output.
