G-Dragon has withdrawn his “like” from actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency statement after facing criticism online.
On May 28, it was revealed that G-Dragon had liked an official statement released a day earlier by Kim Soo Hyun’s agency through his social media account. The statement, issued by Gold Medalist, claimed that all allegations raised against Kim Soo Hyun by the YouTube channel HoverLab and its head, Kim Se Ui, had been proven to be a malicious fabrication through a police investigation.
Previously, Kim Se Ui alleged that Kim Soo Hyun had dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. However, the investigation reportedly found that the mobile messenger conversations presented as evidence had been fabricated by altering conversations from other individuals, while the audio recordings were revealed to be sophisticated fake voices generated using artificial intelligence.
Investigators reportedly discovered intentional signs of tampering in at least seven pieces of evidence submitted by Kim Se Ui. Taking the severity of the case into account, the court issued an arrest warrant against him on charges including defamation, stalking, and violations of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
As a result, Kim Soo Hyun has now cleared his name nearly a year after the rumors first surfaced. At the time the allegations emerged, Gold Medalist strongly denied the claims and warned of legal action. Following the latest investigation results, the agency stated, “One year ago, at a press conference, Kim Soo Hyun said, ‘I will not ask you to believe me simply. I will make sure to prove it.’ The past year has been devoted entirely to keeping that promise. Through lawful procedures and a thorough investigation, the truth has finally been proven. We sincerely thank everyone who trusted and waited for Kim Soo Hyun.”
Meanwhile, G-Dragon is known among fans for frequently liking online posts during interactions on social media. During a past appearance on a variety show, he joked, “I tend to press the heart button a lot. My beginning was ‘Heartbreaker.’ Since then, I’ve been spreading love.” Many interpreted his recent action as a show of support, celebrating the restoration of his close colleague’s reputation.
However, after some online users criticized the move as careless, G-Dragon later removed his “like” from the post.
