Hyeri recalls fainting during live broadcast after ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships’: “I lost my memory”

BY K-Soul · May 22, 2026

Singer and actress Hyeri recalled the frightening moment she collapsed on stage during her Girl’s Day promotions.

On May 22, Hyeri posted a new video titled “Hyeri, what’s going on? You’re talking about things you were never supposed to reveal..” on her YouTube channel.

During the episode, actress Park Kyung Hye shared a story about fainting while filming the movie Handsome Guys and asked Hyeri if she had ever passed out before. Hyeri responded, “You don’t know that I fainted? If you search it up, it comes out. Just type in ‘Hyeri fainting,’” jokingly expressing disappointment.

When the producer added, “It was a really famous incident,” Park Kyung Hye looked up the story and reacted with concern, saying, “This isn’t something to laugh about. That was really serious,” while apologizing.

Hyeri then detailed the events surrounding the incident, which happened during her Girl’s Day promotions. She explained, “I came home after doing curling at the Idol Star Athletics Championships, and I felt extremely cold. I kept turning up the temperature on the electric blanket, but my body was freezing and aching like I had severe muscle pain.”

She continued, “Something felt wrong, so I went to the hospital, but my fever wouldn’t go down. At the same time, I had a music show schedule, so everyone was panicking over whether I should perform or not.

Hyeri revealed that she received IV drips continuously before going on stage. “We decided I would skip rehearsal and only do the live broadcast performance. Back then, we were so busy that even pre-recordings weren’t easy,” she said.

According to Hyeri, her condition was much worse than she initially realized. “Right before going on stage, I was still lying down saying, ‘I don’t think I can do this.’ But once I got on stage, my body just moved automatically,” she shared.

She added, “There’s a choreography part after the first verse where I raise my arm, and at that moment, I felt something snap in the back of my head, and my memory cut off. My body just kept dancing from muscle memory.”

Hyeri continued, “At the end, the camera zoomed in on my face, and I was drenched in sweat. I just kept thinking that I had to finish somehow.”

She also admitted that she could barely sing. “As soon as I finished the final move and sat down, the tension released, and I felt like I was going to throw up. Then I just collapsed,” she said.

After hearing the story, Park Kyung Hye commented, “That’s really incredible. You’re amazing.” However, Hyeri responded calmly, saying, “It’s not something amazing. Everyone still goes to work when they’re sick, right? Back then, we were promoting as a team, so I felt strongly that I had to push through somehow.”

She added, “If it had happened now, I might have postponed the schedule because of my condition. But at the time, because it was a team activity, I endured it.”

Meanwhile, Hyeri previously fainted during a 2014 music show performance of Girl’s Day’s "Something." Although she completed the performance, she collapsed afterward and was reportedly carried off stage by her manager.
