IU donates 300 million KRW (approx. 200,283 USD) on her birthday, continuing her legacy of generosity

Singer and actress IU once again demonstrated her generosity by donating 300 million KRW (approximately 200,283 USD) in celebration of her birthday, continuing her reputation as one of Korea’s most influential philanthropic celebrities.

On May 16, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced that IU made the donation under the name IUAENA, a combination of her name and her official fan club, UAENA.

According to the agency, 100 million KRW (approx. 66,761 USD) was donated to Asan Medical Center. Additionally, 50 million KRW (approx. 33,380 USD) each was delivered to organizations including Walking With Us, Milk Delivery to Check on the Elderly, the Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association, and Walk Together.

The donations will be used to support patients facing financial difficulties, provide educational and cultural opportunities for children and teenagers, assist elderly individuals living alone, support vulnerable single-mother households, and provide advanced assistive devices for people with disabilities.

IU has consistently carried out charitable donations under the “IUAENA” name on meaningful occasions such as her birthday, debut anniversary, and year-end holidays, continuing to spread positive influence through her acts of kindness.

Earlier this month, she also donated 100 million KRW (approx. 66,761 USD) on Children’s Day to support children and teenagers. She has additionally gained praise for personally preparing handwritten letters and gifts for young actors she worked with on various projects.

Last year, IU donated 200 million KRW (approx. 133,522 USD) to support wildfire recovery efforts and improve firefighters’ working conditions in Korea’s southeastern regions. She also contributed 150 million KRW (approx. 100,141 USD) on Children’s Day and donated 200 million KRW (approx. 133,522 USD) each on her birthday and debut anniversary, followed by another 200 million KRW (approx. 133,522 USD) donation at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, IU is currently appearing as Seong Hee Joo in the MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Perfect Crown.'
