MONSTA X’s Hyungwon returns as ASEA MC for second consecutive year

Hyungwon of MONSTA X will reconnect with global fans as an awards show host for the second consecutive year.

According to the ASEA organizing committee on May 12 KST, Hyungwon will serve as an MC on the first day of Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2026, which will take place on May 16 and 17 at Belluna Dome.

ASEA is a global music festival that brings together leading artists from across Asia. Hyungwon previously hosted Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2025, where he was praised for his stable hosting skills, witty remarks, and natural stage presence.

Last year’s appearance also marked Hyungwon’s first official event following his military discharge. Despite it being his first time hosting an awards ceremony, he impressed audiences with relaxed delivery and smooth chemistry throughout the event. His occasional use of Japanese also drew positive reactions from local fans and helped create a warm atmosphere.

Through his agency Starship Entertainment, Hyungwon shared, “I’m happy and grateful to return as an MC for ASEA again this year. Last year, I created unforgettable memories with many artists and fans who attended the event, and it became a great source of motivation for me. I will do my best to show an even better side of myself, so please look forward to it and support me.”

Known for his refined vocals, stylish performances, and clean dance lines, Hyungwon has continued to showcase his versatility through activities with MONSTA X as well as the unit Shownu X Hyungwon. He has also expanded his presence through producing, DJing, MC work, and variety content, solidifying his reputation as an all-round entertainer.

Recently, Hyungwon has been actively participating in '2026 MONSTA X WORLD TOUR [THE X : NEXUS]', performing in cities including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Jakarta, and Japan.

In addition, Shownu X Hyungwon is preparing to release its new album 'LOVE ME' on May 21, raising anticipation for the duo’s comeback activities.

Following his appearance at ASEA 2026 on May 16, Hyungwon will officially kick off comeback promotions with the release of “LOVE ME” on May 21.
