TWICE’s Jeongyeon tears up while talking about sister Gong Seung Yeon

Jeongyeon became emotional while talking about her older sister, actress Gong Seung Yeon.

On the May 6 KST broadcast of 'You Quiz on the Block', a preview for the next episode featuring the sisters was revealed.

During the teaser, Gong Seung yeon appeared as a guest while Jeongyeon also joined the interview segment.

Jeongyeon shared her pride in her sister’s recent success, saying, “I’m so happy that my sister is doing well these days,” referring to Gong Seung Yeon’s performance in 'Perfect Crown'.

However, while continuing her thoughts, Jeongyeon suddenly became emotional and said, “It was a time when I was struggling mentally…” before adding, “I’m getting emotional,” as tears welled up in her eyes.

Jeongyeon has previously spoken openly about her health struggles. In 2020, ahead of promotions for TWICE’s ninth mini album 'MORE & MORE,' she was diagnosed with a herniated disc in her neck. During treatment, she experienced rapid weight changes due to Cushing syndrome caused by steroid medication side effects.

She also struggled with panic disorder and anxiety, eventually halting activities. Although she briefly resumed promotions in June 2021, she later paused activities again two months later due to recurring anxiety and panic symptoms.

Previously appearing on the YouTube channel “Inspector,” Jeongyeon shared that during her hiatus she even helped at a café part-time, working from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. while taking time to recover mentally and physically.
